Susan Zulauf’s ‘mark of the artist’ is exemplified in her textural paintings of landscape and nature. With an almost Fauvist use of color combined with gestural and experimental uses of paint, form, decorative motifs, and materials, the glamorized beauty of nature is present.
Meet the Artist
Susan Zulauf
Zulauf has been professionally painting since 1983 along with being in several Creative Management positions. She has spent the past five years focusing on her fine art painting, which she describes as “pure joy.”
Her focus prior to her fine art painting was on decorative and surface design as a licensed artist for manufacturers and retailers world-wide under her business, Zulauf Designs.
Artist Statement
“Nothing gives me more pleasure than layering my paints, papers, foils, and stencils on canvas to see what appears. What starts as my vision can completely change to a happy surprise when I start painting.
Beautiful textures appear in nature.
