She works in several different mediums, such as watercolors, pastels, acrylics, oils, and stone sculpture. Her artwork has evolved over time from feminist, religious themes, body image, sensuality, to portraits of friends and images of the natural world.

Diane finds inspiration in the human figure, florals and tranquil land and seascapes from the places that she has traveled. Her artistic influences are Surrealism, Expressionism, Kahlo, Rivera, Gauguin, Matisse, and vibrant, bold, Fauvist colors. Diane has had many Solo and Group shows all over New Jersey and New York State.

Artist Statement

Diane Carbone is an artist who has lived in New Jersey for her whole life. She has always had a passion for drawing and painting. Diane paints from the feminine perspective. During her early years, Diane painted the female form in bold fauvists colors depicting the continual suffering of women throughout the world.

Trying to bring awareness of the injustice that women face. As time as gone by, her paintings have evolved from making a feminist statement, to focusing on depicting portraits to the simple beauty of flowers. Diane finds inspiration from her friends, models and from the natural world. Her flower paintings are an homage to Georgia O’Keefe.

The focus of her flower images is form and color. The floral image has a sensual abstract element. So many people take the natural beauty of flowers for granted and never really look at or appreciate them. Her paintings are a celebration of beauty.
