Museum Day Live! Comes to Dey Mansion
The Dey Mansion Museum, Wayne, NJ, Joins Smithsonian Magazine’s 13th Annual Museum Day Live!

(Wayne, NJ) – The Dey Museum will open its doors free of charge on Saturday September 23, 2017, as part of Smithsonian Magazine’s thirteenth annual Museum Day Live, an initiative in which participating museums across the United States emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington DC-based facilities, which offer free admission every day, and open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live ticket.Museum Day Hours of Operation: Tours are on the hour between 10:00am-4:00pm (last tour leaves at 4:00pm)
“The Dey Mansion is a historic gem in the County of Passaic. We have invested millions of dollars in restoring the mansion and the grounds to its original historic design,” said Freeholder Director Sandi Lazzara. “We have been expanding access to our museum as well, including a virtual tour through Google Expeditions. This will allow even more people to experience the history and heritage of our great country.”
The Dey Mansion is a Historic House Museum curated to provide the visitor an experience of stepping back in time. As you walk through the front door you are transported back to the Colonial Era and the home of Col. Theunis Dey in the year 1780, when it served as General George Washington’s Headquarters.
Live demonstrations by a blacksmith, weavers and more will be on-going throughout the day!

This year, Museum Day Live will feature special interactive lesson plans created by Smithsonian in partnership with Microsoft using Minecraft: Education Edition. TK Museum will be able to utilize the Smithsonian material based lesson plans to enhance the Museum Day Live experience.
The Museum Day Live ticket is available for download at Smithsonian.com/museumday. Visitors who present the Museum Day Live ticket will gain free entrance for two at participating venues on September 23, 2017. One ticket per email address is permitted.
