Visitor Information
The Dey Mansion Washington’s Headquarters is a historic house museum, listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places, curated to provide the visitor an experience of stepping back in time. As you walk through the front door you are transported back to the Colonial Era and the home of Col. Theunis Dey in the year 1780, when it served as General George Washington’s Headquarters.
The museum is operated and maintained by the County of Passaic. Visitors to the Dey Mansion can tour the historic house, view different exhibitions of the collections, and take part in a range of educational and public programming.
Hours of Operation
Museum hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00am – 5:00pm. Tours are run on the hour.
Office hours are Monday through Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm.
All visitors should call in advance for the daily tour schedule as it is subject to change.
Closed for all Federal and State Holidays. Holidays falling on a Monday or Tuesday will be observed the following Wednesday. Memorial Day will be observed the Sunday prior.

Guided Mansion Tours
Guided mansion tours are 45 minutes to an hour and are offered Wednesdays through Sundays. Grounds tours are only provided on weekends at 2:00 pm.
Group Visits & Tours
Advance reservations are required for all adult and student groups of 10 or more, and for any third-party guided tours, regardless of size. For more information or to make a reservation, please call our offices at 973-706-6640.
School Group Programs
School programs are offered Wednesday thru Friday (except holidays) between the hours of 9:30 – 2:30 pm. Programs generally run for 90 minutes. For more information or to make a reservation, please review school programs or call us at 973-706-6640.
Photography & Site Use
