The Paterson Museum Foundation invites you to join us on Zoom on Thursday, December 16th at 7pm for the first installment of our new series, The Story Behind the Story: Chats with Passaic County Historian Edward A. Smyk. Enjoy an intimate conversation with Edward A. Smyk, as he shares his intimate knowledge of Passaic County’s history, gleaned from a lifetime of research.
The Dey Mansion, in Wayne, New Jersey, served as George Washington’s Headquarters in July and October-November 1780. In 1970 the house was placed on the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places. But what happened between 1780 and 1970? In this first presentation, Dey Mansion, Part 1, Smyk will focus on Passaic County’s early preservationists, the forgotten individuals who worked hard to protect and preserve the Dey Mansion. Their dedication, passion for history and love of country fueled their early efforts to protect and preserve this important historical landmark for future generations.
This lecture will be presented virtually, via zoom. The lecture is free of charge, but donations to the Paterson Museum Foundation are requested. Donations can be submitted via paypal or check.
