Passaic County Book Festival 2025 Authors

Award-winning author, Miriam Allenson, writes about smart-mouthed women and the men who love them. (She’s been told she’s a little smart-mouthed herself.) Miriam is the author of three romances and will be signing all three at the festival. Miriam lives in Clifton with her fabulous, supportive husband Andy. 

Rob Ambrose is the author and illustrator of Dino Style: Dinosaurs & Graffiti and Dino Style: Stickersaurs! and has been fascinated with dinosaurs his entire life. This fascination eventually led him to a career as a public school science teacher, where he uses graffiti and sticker art to teach his students about science and having a positive mental attitude. Rob has spent his entire life in New Jersey, where he lives with his wife and their daughter, who both inspire him to live his best life and remain young at heart.

Antonia Aquilante has been making up stories for as long as she can remember and, at the age of twelve, decided she would be a writer when she grew up. After many years and a few career detours, she has returned to that original plan. Her stories have changed over the years, but one thing has remained consistent—they all end in happily ever after.

Award-winning author Kimberley Ash is a British expat who has lived in and loved New Jersey for 30 years. She writes fish-out-of-water stories about people who find home where they least expect it. When not writing contemporary romance or romantic women’s fiction, she can usually be found cleaning up after her two big white furry dogs and slightly less furry children.

J.R. Bale has always tried to explore the themes in his stories from an unusual perspective, whether it was politics in Phoenix in the Middle of the Road or consciousness in his Cognition Chronicles series. He lives in an alternate dimension called New Jersey. In his pursuit of diverse perspectives, he has traveled to over a dozen countries across four continents. He even applied to NASA’s space program. When not writing books, he is a marketing consultant and college professor.

Kathy Biehl is an award-winning writer and observer of human quirks. Her latest anthology, Confessions of a Third-Rate Goddess: Traipsing Through a World Gone Weird, chronicles sexual ambiguity and other weirdness of life in the 1990s.  Food, drink and the questionable behavior they inspire dominate her first anthology Eat, Drink & Be Wary: Cautionary Tales, which was shortlisted for the 2022 Eric Hoffer Award Grand Prize.

Alyssa-Ray Bouman writes emotionally rich contemporary romance with strong heroines, slow-burn tension, and heart-tugging moments. She explores themes of healing, self-discovery, and the power of choosing love, even when it’s hard. A Passaic County, New Jersey native, she spends her days playing with her son, hanging out with her husband and plotting her next fictional heartbreak.

Melissa Brady Petrillo is an educator and author in New Jersey with a passion for promoting empathy and inclusivity in the world. By reading her book, Sometimes, children and adults learn ways to understand and best support their peers, including individuals with autism. Melissa’s goal is to help students and families understand that everyone encompasses a unique mindset that must be valued in our world today.

Margaret Buckley lived in North Jersey for 20+ years and taught at the Classical Academy Charter School in Clifton for several years. She currently lives with her husband in Delaware and works in the Delaware Library System. Ice Cream Town, about an imaginary town made out of ice cream, was published by Penguin/Random House’s Step Into Reading Program in 2024. It is her first children’s book.

Tobias Carroll is the author of five books, most recently the novel In the Sight. His next book is a study of the 2011 film Kill List for Bloomsbury Academic’s Timecodes series. He is on the board of the National Book Critics Circle.

Farah Chaudhry has completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Education from Rutgers University as well as an Ed. S. degree in Educational Leadership from Mercer University.  She has been both an educator and a volunteer, working with youth and women in her local community, for over a decade.

D. L. Cocchio was born and raised in New Jersey and taught elementary school for many years. Being fascinated by all mystical and magical things, Debbie is the author of a YA Paranormal Romance Trilogy called “The Psychic Circle”, featuring – Souls Entwined (Book 1), Magic Like That (Book 2), and Karma Like This (Book 3). She has also written one non-fiction YA/Adult book- So You Wanna Read Tarot (2012) and two middle-grade mysteries – Be Careful What You Wish For (2003), and Magic By Moonlight (2011). Cocchio has been a Tarot teacher for over 30 years and a lead ghost hunter with NJGHS.

Phil Coffin, a longtime editor at The New York Times, is the author of two books of baseball history: When Baseball Was Still Topps: Portraits of the Game in 1959, Card by Card, and his latest book, A Baseball Book of Days: Thirty-One Moments That Transformed the Game. He has been a member of the Society for American Baseball Research since 1994. His mom did throw away his baseball cards.

Marina Antropow Cramer is the child of post-WWII Russian refugees from the Soviet Union. Her work has appeared in Blackbird, Istanbul Literary Review, Wilderness House Literary Review, Bloom Literary Magazine, and the other side of hope literary journal. She has participated in the Hobart Festival of Women Writers (2022), where she served as a workshop instructor. She is the author of the novels Roads (Chicago Review Press), Anna Eva Mimi Adam (RunAmok Books), and Marfa’s River (Apprentice House Press), and lives in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Ted Delgrosso is a lifelong resident of northern New Jersey and has traveled extensively through Europe and America. He is the author of Ted’s Tales and Ted’s Tales Two, both collections of fiction and science fiction short stories. His third book is expected to be published early this summer.

After a long career in the U.S. Federal Reserve System, Barbara retired to pursue her dreams. One of her wishes was to publish a book that would give the reader some of what she has learned over years of studying the role of “The Universe” in everyday living. That wish came true when she and her dear friend Margie Herrick published their book, “Your Path to a Fulfilling Life” in 2020, and began their “Margie and Barbara’s Wishing Wisdom” Blog in 2021.

Veronica MacDonald Ditko is a lover of history, innovative storyteller, and educator. She will be sharing her children’s book A Rock Solid History of Hawthorne, New Jersey, which illustrates local history for 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th graders through something tangible – rocks. Paul Duerr is currently a 20-year-old author based in Hawthorne, New Jersey, as well as a historian and presenter. He has written and published a total of seven books including six historical fiction titles: The novelettes High Horse, A Shot in the Dark, and The Ultimate Resolution; the novellas 1864, Steel and Bone, and A Joint Enterprise, as well as one non-fiction political science-based work entitled ‘Sentiments on the American Executive.’ He conducts public U.S. History presentations and received the 1st Place Student Recognition Award for the seven northern counties of New Jersey by the New Jersey Council for the Social Studies in May of 2022. He is currently attending Rutgers University-New Brunswick as a history and political science double major.

Beck Erixson writes about the beautifully awkward world of navigating the journey to happiness through friendships, love, and family—be it blood, found, or chosen. Her stories enhance the importance of positive interconnection, even when we feel lonely. She lives on the Jersey Shore and can often be found either writing by the river, or in it in some way.

Steven Farkas is a horror and Science Fiction writer. He has written and published fifteen books in the genres of horror, science fiction and dystopian futures. He is best known for his short horror fiction and novellas, zombie books and collections, and the Blue Blaze books, his science fiction crime book series. Clifton resident Michael Gabriele has written five books on New Jersey history, all published by Arcadia Publishing/The History Press. JJ Jorgensen served as a NJ State certified municipal procurement and compliance officer and is a respected public speaker and freelance instructor for Rutgers University. He holds a Master of Science in Management (MSM) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Organizational Leadership and he and his wife live in Passaic County, NJ. Since childhood, JJ has experienced all kinds of supernatural phenomena, mostly angelic and divine, though some were terrifying. Maria Menico Sifniades, a New Jersey writer, recently released her second novel, The Red Ribbon of Time. Valerie Munro is the author of The Checkmates, a middle-grade chess series for kids and several middle grade fantasy novels. She has contributed to the New Jersey Center for the Book’s e-books series. She lives in Sparta, NJ and is an elementary media specialist in Pequannock Township.

Katherine Gibson Newcomer has been called a “Renaissance” woman by others. She graduated from Drew University – Madison, New Jersey, cum laude, after spending her senior year abroad at Ripon Hall – Oxford, United Kingdom. She was a double major in both Religion and Music. She completed her academic studies at Rutgers Law School – Newark, New Jersey. An arts person at heart, she continues to create by writing and working in the music field. Norma Jeanet is a Colombian children’s book author who has dedicated her career to education K through 12. After migrating to the United States in 2013, Norma continued to practice her teaching vocation, focusing on teaching Spanish to children under 5 years old. He is the author of several articles and the 2023 book Made in Paterson: The Life and Legacy of U.S. Senator William Hughes, for which he received an Author Award from the New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Gettysburg College, a master’s in history from Drew University, and a master’s in education policy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He received the Milken Educator Award in 2019.
