DESCRIPTION:The Battle of Golden Hill was one of the more obscure conflicts during the Revolutionary Period. This skirmish in the center of New York City in January 1770 was born out of the frustration of not only the Sons of Liberty in New York\, but of a larger group of citizens who were weary of years of military overreach. \nThe men who fought on the inhabitants’ side participated in one of the first successful coordinated acts of resistance by the colonial population against the British military system. DESCRIPTION:Step into 1780 as Heard’s Brigade\, an 18th-century Revolutionary War reenactment unit\, returns to the Dey Mansion grounds! \nThroughout the day\, soldiers will drill and maneuver\, cook over open fires\, and demonstrate the daily life of the Continental Army. Visitors can explore the military encampment\, see period equipment and clothing\, and speak directly with reenactors about what it was like to serve during the American Revolution. \nThis is an interactive experience; ask questions engage with history up close.
