SUMMARY:Open House Reception: Women in America’s Revolutions 1776 and 1926
DESCRIPTION:The American Labor Museum commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 100th anniversary of the 1926 Passaic Woolen Mills Strike by offering a year-long exhibition which celebrates the roles of women in each of the landmark events. The exhibit\, “Women in America’s Revolutions 1776 and 1926\,” officially opens to the public on Wednesday\, January 7th\, 2026\, followed by an open house reception on Sunday\, March 8th\, 2026 at 1pm\, in conjunction with the museum’s Annual International Women’s Day March. \nBoth anniversaries provide the opportunity to shine a light on working women and those of privilege who courageously stood up to the establishment despite any consequences they faced. The Museum invites the general public to discover the fascinating and inspiring “untold stories” of revolutionary women who contributed to the freedoms and dignity with which citizens live in America and New Jersey. \nLearn more on the American Labor Museum website. \nThis exhibit is made possible in part by a grand administered by the Passaic County Cultural and Heritage Council from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

SUMMARY:Art Class for Kids: Pisanki Polish Paper Cut Art
DESCRIPTION:Paper-cut Łowicz pisanki are vibrant\, traditional Polish Easter eggs decorated with colorful\, layered paper cutouts (wycinanki) featuring iconic floral and rooster motifs. This distinct style differs from the single-color Kurpie tradition and represents a unique blend of folk art applied to hollowed eggshells designed for hanging. These handmade creations from central Poland often incorporate scenes from folk life\, using brightly colored paper layered and glued onto dyed eggs to achieve rich\, detailed designs. We are going to create a paper-cut Łowicz-style pisanka as a spring/Easter decoration and a mini collage on a canvas panel inspired by Aneta’s photographs of her traditional (beeswax) pisanki. All supplies are included. This workshop is for ages 9-15 years old. \nRegistration Fee: Clifton residents $30\, non-residents $35. Register here.
