SUMMARY:PCAC Artist Talk Series: Mika Samuelle
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to welcome Mika Samuelle\, a New York City native\, who grew up surrounded by artists\, authors\, and musicians for a special artist talk. Samuelle studied theater in London and went on to create a dynamic career as Stage Manager working on Off-Broadway productions\, Broadway musicals\, and operas in Italy. Her time with the New York City Ballet\, inspired Samuelle to create stories that weave together music and art – bringing to life her imaginative works\, Peter Plumber’s Perfect Plan and Shuffle Off to Buffalo. \nDuring this event\, Samuelle will share her personal journey through storytelling and dance. Attendees will enjoy live readings of her books and reflections on her experiences in NYC’s theater scene\, revealing how creative paths can unfold in unexpected and meaningful ways. The evening will conclude with an interactive tap dance demonstration for all ages. SUMMARY:Reception: Portraits of Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special reception on Saturday\, September 19th from 1pm-4pm. Questions and Answers with the artist\, Gabo Padilla\, and special guests at 2:30pm. \nPortraits of Resilience\, is an exhibition that combines intimate portraits with social commentary on the struggles of homeless individuals. Created in both charcoal and oil\, each portrait is accompanied by testimony in the subject’s own words\, recounting their personal journey. This series of portraits is a powerful example of art and life affecting change on each other. Viewers will be asked to both look at the painting\, and listen to a life\, shattering the comfortable distance of observation. \nLocal artist Gabo Padilla is the painter and founder of the Citizens Outreach Foundation\, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people in need\, in Paterson\, NJ. When asked about the project he said\, “what started off as a series of portraits\, evolved into something that’s been truly life changing.”

SUMMARY:The Iron Hand in the Silk Glove: Allied Textile Printing Site Lecture
DESCRIPTION:The ATP site rests derelict since its final closure in 1986 after over 190 years of continuous operation. Through large format\, hand-printed\, silver photographs\, this exhibition tells the story of these “factories below the falls” – in context of the ATP landscape of 2006. \nA lecture about the ATP site\, Paterson’s industrial past and gallery talk by the photographer is being offered at 1:00 p.m. on April 11th and September 12th at the Lambert Castle Carriage House. \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Summer Art Camp 2026 at Clifton Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Unleash your child’s creativity this summer at Summer Art Camp 2026 at Clifton Arts Center—where young artists are not just taught\, but truly mentored. \nDesigned for children ages 7–12\, this inspiring and hands-on program pairs students with professional artists and experienced art educators who are passionate about nurturing the next generation of creatives. At Clifton Arts Center\, we believe mentorship is the heart of artistic growth. Our instructors work closely with each child\, recognizing their unique gifts and guiding them to build confidence\, refine their skills\, and discover their own creative voice. \nIn a relaxed and supportive studio environment\, campers will explore a wide range of artistic techniques including painting\, drawing\, collage\, and sculpture. Through engaging lessons and personalized instruction\, students will create multiple 2D and 3D works of art while developing foundational skills in design\, composition\, and visual storytelling. Each participant will also cultivate their own sketchbook—a creative journal that captures their ideas\, progress\, and artistic journey throughout the program. \nAs a special highlight\, campers will enjoy a private tour of the Clifton Arts Center Art Gallery and outdoor Sculpture Park\, complete with an interactive scavenger hunt designed to spark observation\, curiosity\, and critical thinking. \nAll art materials are provided. Students should bring a nut-free snack\, beverage\, and sunscreen each day. Registration fee for residents is $200 and for non-residents is $225. \nThe program concludes with a celebratory art reception where campers proudly showcase their work for family and friends—an empowering moment that honors both their creativity and growth. \nSummer Art Camp 2026 is taught and led by Beth Kearney\, a multidisciplinary artist\, curator\, and dedicated arts educator. A Clifton resident for 25 years\, Beth is a staff member at Clifton Arts Center and holds a B.A. in Film Photography from Hampshire College and an M.A. in Humanities and Arts Education from NYU. Her work has been exhibited at respected institutions including the Morris Museum and the Montclair Art Museum\, along with other regional galleries and venues. \nGive your child more than just an art camp—give them mentorship\, inspiration\, and the confidence to grow as an artist. Join us this summer for an unforgettable creative experience.
