  5. 19th Century Baseball

    You're invited to attend the Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House grand reopening event. On display will be the Shades of Greatness exhibition and Hinchliffe Stadium & Its Legacy, a collection of works inspired by the historic Paterson arena. In celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the founding of the Negro Leagues, enjoy a live action reenactment of a 19th-century baseball game at the field just outside of the arts center. The Brooklyn Atlantics and the Elizabeth Resolutes will be facing off! The demonstration will run from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Visit to learn about all new safety measures before your visit.

Is your special talent craving a relaxed, rustic venue in the heart of the forest? Showcase your special musical talent at our monthly Open Mic. Join us in a beautiful wooded setting for an afternoon of live music. Come to play, or just to listen and enjoy! Join us outside near the old farmhouse (c.1800's) for an afternoon of ACOUSTIC music (originals and covers); no power connection. Masks must be worn when social distancing cannot be maintained. Please bring your own refreshments and a folding chair. Smoking and alcohol are not permitted anywhere on the property.

  7. High School (9th-12th) "HIGHLANDS TREKKERS" Program

    September 28, 2020, 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM @ New Weis Center for Education, Arts, and Recreation

    Our Highlands Trekkers will take to the trails with a new hike each week. As we go, we will learn about our forest and the local plant and animal species. Students will also learn the Do's and Don'ts of safe hiking and how to follow the "Leave No Trace" principles. Each student will receive their own NY-NJ Trail Conference trail map set of the area, which will be used during our program, and then kept for their future hiking endeavors! There may be one or two sessions where the drop-off location will differ from the regular parking lot. The location will be less than 10 minutes away from the center, and detailed directions will be provided in advance. Sample activities: how to read trail maps & trail markers, planning a hiking route, natural navigation, packing a bag, practical survival skills, and citizen science on the trail.
